LONDON – Markets were reeling yesterday after the pound was reportedly seen up all night against the dollar. The euro claims to have seen sterling pressed up against its American counterpart in a London nightclub. “You could tell it was the pound from the picture of the Queen on its back,” said the struggling EU currency, which itself has faced recent allegations of going down on the Yen, something both currencies strongly deny. City sources said the pound rolled into the London Stock Exchange “still drunk” yesterday morning and weaved around the trading floor before coming to a standstill in a corner, where it remained sluggish for most of the day. The pound had rallied by this morning and is expected to behave for the rest of the week, provided it doesn’t slip below the Israeli shekel again.
